Get your voter id card - Be a decisive force in 2014.

Let me start the post with some critical information: Being a citizen of India, you can apply for voter id card in any part of the country, you can transfer your existing voter id card or get new one when you change locations. This does mean that you can vote anywhere in the country and don't have to travel to permanent residence or home town on the "Voting" day.

We may criticize our political system for its inefficiencies, lack of transparency or corruption but that does not help. The minimum that a responsible citizen can and should do is voting for a good candidate/party for good governance.

Here I am posting some information by which you can register your self as voter at your current residence.

Steps to get voter id card:
1. You can login on website of election commission using your mobile number and create an account. Link to the website is Election commission of India.
2. When you will open the website, on top left corner there is link "Online Voter Regsitration".
3. Put your mouse on it, it will show multiple options, click on "Form 6" this is for new voter registration.
4. When you will click on this you will be taken to a page where you have to register using your mobile number, this is for online registration.
5. Once you register you mobile number you will get an application number and you can continue to fill your application online.
6. You are required to add your personal details, current address and select your constituency. You can search you constituency on Google also.
7. You have to add recent passport size photographs also.
8. Submit your application and take a print out of the same.
9. This application should be submitted along with address and DOB proof at local Electoral Registration Officer (ERO). Name and contact details of all constituencies EROs are given on website of election commission.
10. Submit your application at local ERO office personally, you will get your voter id card in 6-12 weeks time.
11. In-case you don't want to go for online registration, download "form 6" from election commission website and fill it by hand and follow the same process.
12. ERO office works on Alternate saturdays also, you just have to call your ERO and know on which saturday they are working. There may be multiple ERO offices in one city, depends on size and population of the city.

I submitted my application in Pune ERO office and staff was very cooperative and polite, had really good experience.

This process of getting a voter card becomes very simple and fast during elections and EROs run drives to regsiter voters and they increase number of offices and also go to all areas in the city for voter registration, but you don't have to wait till then.

Note: As a citizen you are not supposed to hold multiple voter id cards, so if you are moving from one location to another, please surrender your voter id card to local ERO and get an acknowledgement for surrendering as for new card you may be asked to prove this.

I called ERO office multiple times and got good response from them for my queries.

So, go ahead, register your self as voter and show the power of democracy to the world.

"Happy Voting"

Regards

Please post your queries in comment section, I will try to answer as much as possible.

Gandhi: The most inhuman human

I was born in 1983, he died in 1948 so there is no chance that I saw this man alive. Recently I read a lot about this man form various sources and after knowing him little better,I feel he is the most inhuman human I ever got to know.

Inhuman ?? Yeah. Inhuman.

So, what is human ?

Certain recent events around forced me to think so. I would like to quote few of them and explain the humanity in today's context.

1. America succeeds in killing terrorist Osama after 10 years of successive civilian killings.
2. Rajnaath Singh (BJP Leader) beats policeman on duty beause he got little push during public protest with UP farmers.
3. My teacher in class said that he will mark those students "F" who have marked proxy in the class. No he cant forgive anyone.

So, very different and unrelated events but is there a connection.

Let me explain, there is

No.1, when someone attacks you or your country your responsibility is to attack that country, settle there for years, capture there resources, kill civilians and terrorists. Finally capture the resources. This is humanity, in today's context. The way to safeguard and take revenge.

No.2, Being a political leader, its your responsibility to participate in any anti-government activity across the country and in that you deserve VVIP treatment because you are asset for the country. All securities and comforts should be there for you and you should be treated with utter care.

No.3, Students are supposed to be honest and not commit mistakes and if they do so they deserve a lesson. They should be punished for this. Punishment is the best way to improve and not the forgiveness. Forgiveness is the weapon of weak.

So, this is humanity in today's context.

Kill people if they kill you, personal comfort is more than anything else and forgiveness is not the way, today.

Now, if we observed "Gandhi" we find that he has done exactly opposite than this. He has done everything which, in today's context, looks inhuman.

No.1, Foreigners came to his country, tortured his countrymen and also killed in some cases. But he protested calmly never killed anyone and never used a weapon. How inhuman!

No.2, He went to jail several times, went for fast, wore bare minimum clothes and walked length and breadth on country on foot. No personal comforts. Just with people. Again how inhuman for a politician!

No.3, Forgiveness is the strongest weapon, he used to say and he forgave many people. According to him, that was the best method to improve people. How ridiculous!

So, that man had done so many inhuman activities.

I strongly condemn those who praise Gandhi and say that they follow him. How you can follow a man who was so inhuman.

Can you imagine, in today's times, you can fight a war, with strongest country in the world without using a single weapon or firing a single shot. No ?

He did so. Because he was inhuman. We are just human. We cant follow him.

Sometimes I remember these words of Albert Einstein, How true he is.

"Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this walked the earth in flesh and blood"

Appraisal is in the Air

and its promotion time there. Here by "there" I mean the place you work where.

This is the time of the year when you wait for long waited results of your longer worked hours which you think were longest in your life.

....and this season comes every year.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here, by "here" I mean the place I study where, its different.

When I walked in to my college campus for the first time, I was surprised to see that it looks exactly like the photograph I saw on the website. Wow, it sounds good.

As I entered the classroom, I was surprised to see that it is air-conditioned, as it was said in a blog I checked before joining.

But, I do believe these things doesn't matter much when you join back a "School" after long Career in the Industry. Materialistic things becomes secondary and "Learning" takes the driver seat.

This way I was amazed to see what I saw here.

There are financial ratio analysis and ABC costing, communication skills and leadership classes. This all you get from at any b-school of any country. I was not surprised to see this. This was something I expected in a b-school.

The best part has been the "Beyond the classroom". I never expected that I will learn "Geeta" lessons in campus of premier b-school of India. I will get a chance to be posted at NGO for two weeks and work with them to help them. I never knew that I will learn administration in business school.

This has been enriching experience.

You can visit "Google" at anytime and find the formula for "Current ratio" but when it comes to solving a business dilemma of ethics and profits, doing a trade off between society and business, there is no formula, you have to inculcate it. This is something "Beyond the Class".

Learning takes a new level here in one year.

You get the real appraisal....and I tell you frankly, every day you are promoted.

I will fast for India

How many times have you seen some corrupt practices happening in front of your eyes and you felt helpless thinking

"IS DESH KA KUCH NAHI HO SAKTA"?

Many times you must have thought that anything and everything could be bought and sold in this country because

"YAHAAN SAB CHOR HAI".

Now the time has come to join the fight against corruption.

From tomorrow morning, Anna Hazare is going on fast unto death at Jantar Mantar, Delhi in support of Jan Lokpal Bill, an effective anti-corrution law(attached the salient features of the bill). Thousands of citizens are going on fast with him at Jantar Mantar and various other places across India and abroad. In mumbai some 400 people will sit on fast at Azad Maidan.

Since many of us are having personal commitments so we might not assemble at one place, still we can observe fast If we want to support this cause. You can fast for full day, half day, few hours-- any duration you are comfortable with.

You may start fast at morning and have lunch during noon if that is what your health permits. Duration of fast is not important, your support for the cause is valuable, though I will fast for full day.

Please reply to my (at ankurchahal@yahoo.co.in) if you support this cause and want to observe fast tomorrow. Once the fast ends, this data will be shared with Mumbai coordinator so that our support can get counted.

Someone quoted during last dandi march -- " If we do not care about our country then who will".

I would be glad to answer your questions on India against corruption or Jan Lokpal Bill.

More details on

"If my fasting for one day can help my nation, I will fast for two"

i Value: my Value

Once in my classroom I heard very interesting words from one of my favorite Professor,

"In this world, Human being discounts themselves the most"

I liked these words and when I pondered over these I realized that how true they are. For the whole life we keep on getting inspired by people and keep thinking that I wish I were like Sachin Tendulkar, I wish I were like Shahrukh Khan, I wish I were like Manmohan Singh and then we feel that I cant be like them they are great people and I am just a normal human being.

Here lies the whole crust of those words. We always believe that others are far superior and better than us and that is why they are so successful and we are too normal and too human to do so. So let me ask, do you think

1. Dheerubhai Ambani was richest man of India from the day he started his company?
2. Sachin Tendulkar, when he played his first match already had 50 centuries ?
3. Amitabh Bachchan's first movie was a block buster ?

Great. How many of these questions has answers in "Yes". I say none.

The start is always from "0" and then you built yourself step by step. All of them were as human and as normal as other 600 billion people on this planet but they had something different from others, they believed in themselves, they valued themselves and they had that passion and hunger to succeed. They never though this cant be done, they just thought how this can be done.

There were numerous examples in this world when people with will power achieved things which were beyond imaginations of a human being. Lance Armstrong, despite suffering from Cancer won Tour-De-France just because he believed himself.

So, a human being is as powerful as he think he is, a human being can achieve as much as he think he is capable.

Few find it difficult to climb 50 meters building and few has reached Mt. Everest. The only difference among them is the "belief".

We are the greatest ever creation of God with all the powers that could have been there. Each one of us is unique and has tremendous potential to create wonderful things in life. We should realize our strengths and gifts that we have and use them in best possible way. We can be much more happy and contented if each of us has this motto

"I value - My value"

and contribute their best for them and society.

This planet can be better place than ever !

So, Value-Your-Value, you are special.

....about me ...I will say,"i Value my Value".

Congratulations !!!

You are fortunate that you can read English. More than 40 crore Indians cant read any Language.

You are fortunate that you have a laptop and internet connection, more than 50 crore Indians do not have access to electricity even.

So, I congratulated you in the beginning. You are special.

There are two parts of a society. One which thrives and another which survives. Adding to it, there are two responsibilities for both, Consume and Contribute and for every society to be recognized as civilized one, there should be a balance between the two.

Now, here comes my point of discussion "disturbing the balance". When one part of society starts consuming more other has to consume less and similarly when one part of society starts contributing less, another has to contribute more and this will balance the equation harmoniously only when the part of society which is consuming more is contributing more. Although in ideal state, everybody should consume and contribute equally. But humanity rarely managed to balance the equation since the birth of civilizations. More the civilizations grew, more the equation got disturbed.

So, which part of the society are we. Definitely we consume and contribute.

There is noting to think much about this. We are a part of society which is consuming more and contributing ........

Let me leave this unanswered. I will take it later and also below is a survey which will try to answer this.

I will tell you some nice examples about "Balancing the equation".

1. Narayan Murthy, founder Infosys, once said that we are a big company today because of society only and its our moral responsibility to give back to society.

2. Bill gates, founder Microsoft, once said that any individual or company grows in a society because they consume something from society. When you grow, you consume resources which would have been consumed by some one else and that leads to change in the equation.

3. Warren Buffet very recently announced that he will "contribute" 90% of his wealth for public cause. He has already donated 50% of his total wealth.

So what these things prove. Phenomenally successful people do believe that they consumed more than others did and so its their moral responsibility to contribute more. In simple language, they should "balance the equation".

Coming back to us. If we look around our country and see our people. If we visit any slum in metros like Delhi or Mumbai or if we go to any government run school or hospital in Patna or Meerut, if we visit any village in Andhra Pradesh or Chhatishgarh we will realize that we consume more. But that is what I already said. When we visit all these places, we can realize one more thing, we can contribute more. Yes. We can "balance the equation".

And if you feel that you are really fortunate to be in "better" part of society, you consume more and you want to contribute more, Go ahead.
